Lake Hamilton High School Clubs

Art Club

The Art Club consists of Lake Hamilton High School students who love the arts and would like to improve their skills through creative visualization. It provides an opportunity for practicing artists to meet after school, collaborate on special projects with their peers, create bonds with the community through art, and work together to help enhance the beauty of the school and the community.

The Lake Hamilton Art Club also provides service to the school and community through various art-related activities that aim to nurture the creative spirit of students as well as their sense of service.

The club is sponsored by Rana Ward.

Beta Club

The Lake Hamilton High School Beta Club is a member of the National Beta Club, which is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. For more than 80 years, it has prepared today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders.

The Beta Club’s mission is to promote its ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among students. Its most notable Arkansan member was former President Bill Clinton, who credits his leadership skills and ideals to being a member of the club.

Membership for the Beta Club is not for everyone. It is only for those who would have the desire to lead and be a leader. It continues to be an ideal avenue for students to cultivate their desire for leadership, excellence, and service to their fellow men.

The club is sponsored and coordinated by teacher Amanda Brooks.

Chess Club

The Lake Hamilton High School Chess Club is an academic organization aimed at stimulating and enhancing a student’s learning and critical thinking skills through the game of chess. By providing the students with expert instruction and guidance, they are able to hone their skills in the game of chess to develop problem solving skills and scenario evaluation that may be applied to other aspects of their academic and personal lives.

The Lake Hamilton High School Chess Club is a member of the Chess Association for Arkansas Schools (C.A.A.S.). It is a good avenue for promoting competitive chess, which also provides a great social outlet for students to interact and meet other students from other schools.

The club is sponsored by Janet Calloway.

Close Up

The Lake Hamilton Close Up Organization is a subsidiary of the Close Up Foundation in Washington D.C., which is endorsed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD), the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), and The Voice of Student & Youth Travel (SYTA).

The Close Up Club offers programs that create a big impact on their lives and inspire the youth to participate in their government and exercise their rights as citizens of the country. It is dedicated to inform, inspire, and empower the youth to accept the responsibilities of citizenship in a democracy by using the nation’s capital, Washington D.C., as a living classroom by exploring the famous monuments, world-renowned museums, and government institutions that have defined America’s past and present.

The club is sponsored by Faculty member Bernard Rusert.

Creative Writing Club

Lake Hamilton High School Students who love creative writing, may it be short stories, poetry, or prose, have an avenue to express themselves through original compositions as members of the Creative Writing Club.

Members are able to create their own creative literary compositions and have an opportunity to share these works will fellow writers to be able to have an avenue in which they are able to express themselves as well as enrich their work further.

The Creative Writing Club also offers an avenue in which they can offer their creative writing skills for the betterment of the school and community through various activities that help shape the school and community as a whole.

Future Business Leaders of America

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a school organization for all ethnicities to join together with a common goal of improving their skills, knowledge, and character as future leaders in the field of business.

FBLA’s mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. It provides a gateway to the world of business through its various activities such as educational programs where members are able to create career portfolios and enhance their knowledge with world-recognized skills certifications and academic competitions wherein students are able to demonstrate their business expertise on various levels of competition.

The FBLA Lake Hamilton Chapter is headed by Tammie Wilson.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America

The FCCLA is a career and technical student organization that aims to empower the youth through community involvement. Its members routinely contribute to the surrounding community through various organized activities such as raising funds for the homeless and community programs for youth abuse.

The organization focuses on providing opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life, strengthen the function of the family as the basic unit of society, encourage democracy through cooperative action, promote general understanding between the youth and adults, and prepare for multiple roles as men and women in today’s society.

The FCCLA Lake Hamilton Chapter is sponsored by Amanda Porter.

Future Farmers of America

The FFA is a youth leadership organization that develops the students’ potential for leadership, personal growth, and career success through agriculture education. It functions within the three-circle model of agricultural education as a student leadership organization that complements a student’s classroom instruction under agricultural experience program supervision.

The members compete in Career Development Events that cover a multitude of skills including communications and mechanics. Competitions are also offered for individuals and teams for students to test their expertise on various skills.

The students are supervised by agricultural education teachers in cooperation with the parents, future employers, and other adults that assist individuals in the development and achievement of educational and career goals.

The Lake Hamilton FFA is coordinated by Steven Johnson.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The FCA’s mission is “to present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church”. Its vision is to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and student athletes.

The FCA operates on the Four Cs of Ministry, namely: Coaches Ministry, Campus Ministry, Camp Ministry, and Community Ministry.

Student athletes are able to impact their schools and communities through the different values that they live by, which are integrity, serving, teamwork, and excellence.
