Dollar Hotdog Turns into $5,000 at Hot Springs Fishing Challenge

Who knew catfish loved hotdogs so much?

Dillon Buxton of Fountain Lake has become the biggest winner of this year’s Fishing Challenge by pulling in a $5,000 Catfish on Lake Hamilton this Saturday. The 18-year-old used a hotdog he bought from the Dollar Store as bait when he successfully caught the 4-pound Channel Catfish.

Buxton says was fishing in the main channel just past Bubba Brews and was heading towards the dam when he pulled the fish in the boat. He added that he plans to use the prize he just won to put in towards a new truck.

Fishing Challenge Updates

Buxton’s Catfish catch brings the total number of prized fish caught to 9 with 62 still remaining. Among the 62 still remaining is Big Al, the elusive $15,000 crappie.
