Daughters of Diaspora – Women of Color Speak
The art exhibit features the work from 16 female artists made from mixed media that opens February 20 and will run until May 13. The event is sponsored by Henderson State University, Hot Springs Area Cultural Alliance, Virginia Clinton Kelley Democratic Women’s Club, Hot Springs Life Long Learning Institute, and Hot Springs Academic Initiatives.

Tulips for Two: Nina Louton and Jan Briggs Art Exhibit
Henderson University Alums Nina Louton and Jan Briggs present various paintings using different media that feature various subjects found around the Garvan Woodland Gardens, including various flora, fauna, and even water. Both artists are very accomplished artists and have achieved so much in their respective fields.

Group Health Walks – Pets & Strollers Welcome!
Take in the beauty of nature and fresh air as you take a more brisk stroll with fellow health buffs and enthusiasts around the beautiful Garvan Woodland Gardens. Fitness buff Sharon Turrentine leads the pack in a 3-mile stroll during Mondays while Artist Dee Garrett takes the lead on Wednesdays while going on a more leisurely, more comfortable pace. Nature enthusiast Ginger Ladehoff takes the group on a challenging pace on a 2-mile hike on Fridays.

Tai Chi Series: “Strength in Motion”

April Exhibit at Justus Fine Art Gallery
The April Exhibit at Justus will feature notable works from various artists such as landscape paintings by Memphis artist Matthew Hasty, wood sculptures by Robyn Horn and Sandra Sell, original art from gallery owner Dolores Justus, an interactive table with sculptures by Jill Kyong, and various works of art by Tony Saladino, Gene Sparling, and Emily Wood.

U.S. National Park Service National Park Week
For one week in April, the official charity of America’s national parks, the National Park Foundation, celebrates America’s treasures with a week-long celebration of park’s history and culture. Join us as we celebrate the all the stars of Hot Springs – its artifacts, resources, hot springs, and the park’s volunteers, in which this year’s event is aptly named “Park Stars”. All programs are free and open to the public. Various free tours for the Fordyce Bathhouse Museum will also be given at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Wednesday Night Poetry
Wednesday Night Poetry has been one of the longest-running events of its kind in the country. Since it was first held in February 1, 1989, it has not missed a Wednesday where a poetry reading was not held. Open mic for storytellers, songwriters, and poets begins at 6:30 PM. The show is hosted by its founder, Bud Kenny.

Arts & The Park 2018
Arts & The Park will be returning for 2018, as announced by the Hot Springs Area Cultural Alliance (HSACA). It is a ten-day celebration of the arts in Downtown Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. The event showcases local and statewide talent in the visual arts, music, dance, poetry, jewelry, pottery, literature, glass, sculptures, and many more.
The opening ceremony and launch party for the event will be held at the Mid-America Science Museum on April 27, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

The 19th Annual Plant Sale and Garden Show
Hundreds of plants like annuals, hanging baskets, perennials, herbs, butterfly plants, and succulents will be available for sale at the 19th Annual Plant Sale and Garden Show. The Garden Show offers educational booths, yard art, tools, a selection of plants, a children’s activity area, and a silent auction. Experts will also be offering seminars on hummingbirds, native plants, landscaping for butterflies, and will be offering free advice.

Islands in the Steam
Do you like the beach? Are you a fan of parties? Then come join us at Islands in the Steam, a luau-themed Low Key Arts dance party, which is hosted by foul play cabaret. There will be a limo contest, island-style food, with all sorts of island tunes. Prizes will be given.

7th Annual Hot Springs Fishing Challenge
The Annual Hot Springs Fishing Challenge is here once again. But this year, the prize gets bigger. Seventy-one fish that have been tagged will be released into Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine and whoever catches these fish will receive a prize, depending on the type of fish caught. One fish, Big Al, corresponds to a $15,000, four with $5,000, 46 are worth $1,000, and 20 have $500 tags. The best thing is, you might have a chance to double your prize during the Free Fishing Weekend.
